Alastair Sanderson founded the business that became Operio Group, a global manufacturer of tablet, capsule, and ingredient machinery serving the pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, and food industries. He started it in 2009, grew it from a start-up investment into an international operation, and led the M&A strategy that consolidated seven brands into a single vertically integrated platform. In 2026 Operio divested its operating businesses. He oversaw the sale process and then the structured wind-down of the holding company.
He was a director of Operio Group from 2022 to 2026 and served on the advisory board of WIT in 2026. He takes on fractional CEO, interim CEO, and independent board engagements for mid-market businesses.
Outside the work, he has run the Chicago Marathon, climbed Kilimanjaro, driven around the world, cycled the length of Britain, and sailed across the Atlantic. Next: the South Pole and Mount Vinson.
